It's a double western doggity birthday pawty...YEEHAW!

I cannot believe my little brother Solo Nho Xiu is all grown up and turns 2 this month. I can still remember Solo's first birthday pawty and cannot believe a whole year has gone by. He is still my little brother in my heart but he is now officially an adult Yorkie.

Solo, 2 year old cowboy

Like any fashionable pawty Yorkie, Solo wanted to have a fun and exciting birthday where he could show off a new outfit. Solo also wanted to share his birthday celebrations with his girlfriend Jun Ko.

Jun, 3 year old cowgirl
Solo and Jun put their Yorkie brains together and decided on a western pawty theme. There were images of horseshoes, boots, and lassos all around the room. All of their furiends came dressed in their best Western attire.

Vernon Jacobs is a wooftastic photog!
Vernon Jacobs helped document the festive attire through his pawsatively pawesome photography skills. Click here to view all of the professional photos by Vernon Jacobs.

Me at the pawty!

Solo and his foster bro Clyde
My favorite part of the pawty was the food. My mom and Jun's mom served chicken fried chicken and corn bread to each dog. The chicken fried chicken was made from ground chicken and coconut oil. The corn bread was made from unsweetened apple sauce, pear sauce, oatmeal, coconut oil, vanilla extract, baking soda, and light brown sugar. The entire western meal was super yummy and all of pawty guests goggled it down and asked for seconds. I sniffed out three helpings myself... lick lick lick.

Bullet loved the cake!
The cakes were made by My Best Friend Specialty Pet Bakery in San Diego. Solo and Jun ordered the 4" Just for You Puppy cakes in peanut butter flavor. The cakes were tasty, soft, and de'lick'cious! Each slice was gobbles up in seconds. Natalie (owner, baker, and artist of My Best Friend Specialty Pet Bakery) takes great care when making each cake and we would not consider any pawty a "real" pawty without one of her cakes, pupcakes, or platter trays on the pawty table.

The birthday cowboy and cowgirl! Woof woof!

Solo and his blue birthday cake.
Jun wanted her cake to be pink.
The games were furtastic and a lot of our friends won cool squeaky prizes. My friend Lilu won the "Guest How Many Treats" game. There were 399 Zuke's mini naturals chicken treats in a jar and Lilu guest 345.

Lilu was so happy to win all the treats!
Many of the pawty guests won prizes for first, second, third, and fourth place while playing "Solo and Jun's Western Word Search." Can you find all the words? I sniffed out a few but cheated and used the key to find the answers.

How many words did you sniff out? I have included the key at the end of this post to help the non-sniffers find the answers.

The entire pawty was a big success. I am sad I can no longer call Solo my "little puppy brother" but I am glad he has grown up into a young cowboy with a beautiful cowgirl girlfriend.

I cannot wait for my birthday pawty in April. Until then, keep wandering!

Happy Birthday Solo and Jun
Who was Solo and Jun wearing? Solo wore a tan felt cowboy hat and cowboy outfit both purchase from PupRwear. Jun wore a western dog costume dress purchase from Baxter Boo.

Fall season brings dogtastic events!

What a busy furtastic start to the fall season.. sniff sniff... woof woof! My brother and I we shook our tails at a doggie luau, moved into a new home, and made time to sniff around Bark in the Park before we prepare for Walk n' Wag and Howloween. We always have a busy fall schedule but this year is a whole new experience.

On August 11th, Solo and I thought it would be a good idea to have a themed quarterly birthday pawty for our South Bay Yorkie meetup group. The sun was bright, the grass was warm, and the smell of birthday cake was in the air. We wanted to do something different and set our hearts on a Lawn Luau Birthday Celebration.

Solo loved sitting for treats.
The event was wooftacular! My brother and I handed out leis to all of our furiends. Every paw came dressed in their most festive floral shirts and dresses. We sat on the lawn and munched on the many treats our parents brought to the event.

I was in treat coma!
It was a pot luck and our parents know how to share food. My furiends Zack and Zoe made some tasty homemade dog biscuits. They were so good I almost at the whole plate of treats. Don't worry, I did not eat them all at once. I had to work for the treats and give lots of hungry puppy dog looks to each parent that walked by the table. Needless to say, I got my fair share of treats. Solo also ate his share of treats and then passed out on the sea of blankets spread out across the grass. It was our first and not our last doggie luau. We hope to celebrate birthdays like this again in the future.

We love our South Bay Yorkie Meetup gang!
We moved! OMD! Mommy decided that our little family was getting too big for our one room studio so we upgraded to a humongous one bedroom apartment. Solo and I could not believe our eyes... we had our own patio, our own bedroom, our kitchen for mommy to cook us food in, and a place mom calls the "living room." We call it the "toy wrestling room." Solo drags all of this toys into that room and we play chase and wrestling on top of the toys. I think that name will stick... we just have to train mommy a little harder. Our new home is very dog friendly too. There are dog clean up stations all around the complex and each morning we sniff butts with our neighbors. We have an upstairs Shar Pei neighbor whose name is Oliver. He has a cool soul and a really mellow temper. We see him the most while our moms talk about human stuff.

Its always a Yorkie pawty at Bark in the Park!

After our move, we immediately started planning for our long list of fall events. The first item on our agenda was Bark in the Park! We love attending Bark in the Park to sniff out new treats, clothes, and butts.

We met all of our furiends, took pictures, did some shopping at our favorite dog boutique booths (Okashi Barkery and Gussied Up are two booths we never miss), and sampled a variety of dog treats.

sniffing around Okashi Barkery's booth
Our favorite treats were from the Five Paw and Pet's N' Nature booths. We cannot wait until next year's Bark in the Park. We always have a wooftastic time.

We made shirts for Walk n Wag 2012
We have a variety of items on our agenda for this month. We are participating in the annual Walk n' Wag fundraiser for the Humane Society Silicon Valley. This will be my 6th year and Solo's 2nd year participating in this furtastic event. Last year, Solo and I even made our very own doggie Walk n' Wag shirts out of real Walk n' Wag shirts. We did not want to waste all of the shirts we received for our participation over the past 6 years so we made dog shirts for the occasion.

Solo and I at the finish line in 2012
Many of our furiends help us make our fundraising goal each year and we cannot bark, THANK YOU loud enough. We hope we make our goal this year and have our paws crossed.

Solo and I will be attending two Howloween events this month. We are going to pawty hard with our South Bay Yorkie meetup group at our annual Howloween Birthday Bash. We all get dressed up and celebrate all Yorkie birthdays in October, November, and December. Solo's birthday is in December so he will be one of the birthday pups too. Woof woof!

We are also attending the 10th Annual Doggie Social and Costume Parade in downtown Willow Glen sponsored by Gussied Up Dog Boutique. We go every year and have a barking of a good time. Our tick or treat bags are always filled to the brim, we get lots of head scratches from friendly fur parents, and get to sniff lots of new butts in costume. We cannot wait!

We hope to sniff you at one of these events! Keep wandering...

8th Annual Dog Day at the Park was WOOFTASTIC!

The Oakland Athletics' 8th Annual Dog Day at the Park was pawsitively wooftastic! This was my second time attending the event. I had so much fun last year that my brother Solo and his girl friend Jun had to join in the tail wagging fun this year. We made sure we arrived at the Oakland Colosseum early to beat the Friday evening traffic, avoid long check in lines, get our doggie swag, and find front row seats for the Pup Rally.

Me, Solo, and Solo's girlfriend Jun at the pup rally
Every dog received a complementary Oakland A's bandana when checking in. We had to sport our bandana right away. We love the Oakland Athletics and the dog friendly the staff, Oakland Colosseum, and team members are. Even the A's mascot Stomper came by to see all of us pups.

We like seeing Stomper on stage
All of the humans received special Dog Day at the Park hats too. They look really pawesome because they were shaped like bones.

Grandma and Solo - It was their first time
The walk around the field was really fun. Solo, Jun, and I strutted our stuff all the way around the field. This is my favorite part of the game because I like to walk on the field while the Oakland Athletics fans cheer us on.

Our view from our seats.
We loved watching the game too. We had a great view of the field. Solo loved looking down on the field. I think he wanted to play with the ball.

After the 7th inning stretch, I saw Solo and mommy on the jumbo screen. It was cool seeing my little brother projected on the big screen. He was dancing to the song Gangnam Style and had fun showing off his dancing moves on the big screen.

We loved having our own seats too.
By the end of the 8th inning Solo and I were fast asleep. We wanted to pawty like rock pups but our little eye could not stay open any longer.

passed out by the 8th inning
We cannot wait for next year's event. We want to bring even more friends to the game and hopefully take a picture with Stomper. Go A's, woof woof!

Keep wandering.

Canine Carnival for PAWS SF

Solo and I had a wooftastic time raising money for animals, eating treats, taking photo booth pictures, and hanging out with our furiends at Wag Hotel's rooftop Canine Carnival in San Francisco!

The carnival was a fundraising event for PAWS SF. PAWS stands for Paws Are Wonderful Support. The organization helps place service animal companions with medically vulnerable individuals in the Bay Area.

Frame Your Pet took all photo booth pics.
We were honored to have been part of this exciting and fun-filled event. We enjoyed visiting all of the vendors and carnival games.

Barkn Belly Bakery and Watch Dog had furtastic items.
Push Pushi had cool rain coats.
Waggy Taylor treats are yummy! We dig the chicken flavor.
Wag Hotel's rooftop was the purfect location for this spectacular fundraising event. We cannot wait to sniff out another fundraising event for PAWS SF again.

We love strolling around the carnival in style!
Keep wandering.
